Whangarei Heads Volunteer Surf Lifesaving Patrol

Whangarei Heads VSLSP HQ is situated at Ocean Beach, 40 minutes East of Whangarei, a city of 35,000 on Northland's East Coast of the upper North Island of New Zealand, or, more commonly referred to by us as, "Godzone".

The climate is semi tropical, with summer temperatures often reaching around the 30C+ mark. Our little patch of paradise is 800 meters wide, the sand white and powdery, and with minimal shade, can get blisteringly hot on an average mid summer day.

It's a non-typical New Zealand exposed East Coast, postcard picture perfect beach, raw, with strong rips and deceptively quick side currents provided for our entertainment. The body surfing's great, patrolling proactive, and we love it!
